Lophodermella sulcigena infection in Scots pine needles and tree nutrition

Needle cast infection caused by Lophodermella sulcigena on Scots pine was inventoried in a fertilization experiment. The nutrient concentration of the needles was also analysed. Some fertilization combinations increased the length of needles. High concentrations of nutrients, especially nitrogen and phosphorus, correlated positively with disease incidence compared with the control plots or with the plots on which only wood ash was broadcast.
