Relationship between Compressive Strength, Moisture Content, Rate of Growth, and Maximum Bow in Home-grown Pitprops
Multiple regression equations of compressive strength on linear and quadratic terms of top diameter, length, moisture content, number of rings at the top, and maximum bow have been fitted to data collected in a survey of the strength of pitprops cut from home-grown conifers. The resulting equations have provided adequate estimates of the strengths of home-grown pitprops for given combinations of size, moisture content, rate of growth, and degree of bow.
