The Problems and Prospects of Natural Regeneration in Coniferous Plantations with Special Reference to Scotland

After remarking on our lack of precise knowledge of the subject, the author attributes the greatest importance to the condition of the ground or surface vegetation at the time of seed-fall and to competition with other plants later on the chances of survival. He considers the outlook and makes recommendations for future research work particularly towards solving the problems of competition.
